Captain William Rothrock

Captain Will Rothrock joined the Palm Beach Police Department on January 16, 2007. He served in the Patrol Unit, Honor Guard, SWAT Team, Crisis Intervention Team, Field Training Unit, Motorcycle Patrol Unit, Juvenile First Offender Team, ATV Unit, and Criminal Investigations Unit before his promotion to the rank of Sergeant in 2016. As a Sergeant, he served in the Patrol Unit, Motorcycle Patrol Unit, Field Training Unit, as the Department’s Quartermaster, a Department armorer, and as a Team Leader on the SWAT Team until his promotion to Lieutenant in 2019.  As a Lieutenant he served in the Special Projects Unit and as the Field Training Commander. He was appointed to the rank of Captain in 2021 where he oversees the Training & Community Relations Unit, the Department’s budget, and serves as the Department’s Public Information Officer.

Captain Rothrock has received 36 Department/Citizen commendations, has been designated the Department’s Officer of the Month 5 times, and Officer of the Quarter twice.  He has also been the recipient of the Department’s Lifesaving Award, the Safety Council of Palm Beach County’s Award for Heroism, and the Palm Beach Civic Association’s Raymond J. Kunkel Foundation Award.

Captain Rothrock holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University.  He has also completed the FBI-LEEDA’s Supervisor Leadership Institute, Command Leadership Institute, Executive Leadership Institute, and received their Trilogy and E-Trilogy Awards.
