[ARCHIVED] New Fertilizer Ordinance

Palm Beach, Florida homepage

Due to concerns regarding the negative effect of landscaping chemicals on local waterways, the Town Council recently adopted Ordinance No. 21-2019 which enacts new regulations on the use of fertilizer for landscaping purposes. The new Ordinance contains detailed information regarding the timing and distribution methods of fertilizer applications. In order to stop contributing to algae blooms, applications of fertilizer containing nitrogen or phosphorus will be prohibited between Saturday, June 1 and Monday, September 30. The full details can be found in the Ordinance which is available on the Town’s website, please click here to view. The Town will continue to evaluate factors that impact residents and the local environment so the necessary steps will be taken to proactively address any future issues.

Town Code Enforcement officers and Public Works staff will administer and enforce the new fertilizer regulations. Please contact Code Compliance or Public Works with any questions regarding this new Ordinance at (561) 838-5440.
