There has been an ongoing parking issue on Island Drive. Legally parked construction and service vehicles have been parking across from each other on the roadway. However, because the street is narrow, some residents are unable to get to their homes. This parking pattern also makes it difficult for emergency vehicles to get through.
To resolve this issue, the Town will be implementing alternate side of the street parking on all of Island Drive, Monday thru Saturday with no restrictions on Sunday. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, parking for all vehicles will be on the odd house numbered side of the street. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, parking for all vehicles will be on even house numbered side of the street.
During the months of November and December, information will be provided to residents, contractors and service providers by means of handouts, town alerts, and social media postings. Alternate side street parking enforcement will begin on January 2, 2019 under Town of Palm Beach Ordinance, Sec. 118 – 92 (a)(2).
