PALM BEACH, Florida – The Town of Palm Beach is excited to announce that our flagship public beach, Mid-Town, has been included within the U.S. Congress Bipartisan Act of 2018 for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Long Term Disaster Recovery Investment Plan.  This appropriation of 25 million dollars marks the first time that U.S. Congress has appropriated funding for this federal project.  This federal partnership with the Town will help hurricane response and preparedness for an important section of shoreline within central Palm Beach County while ensuring a sustainable long-term coastal management program in the Town.  In addition, this initiative will promote a regional approach for a contiguous healthy coastline.

This momentous occasion is celebrated as an extensive outreach and collaborative team effort. Along with Mayor Gail L. Coniglio, there were many teammates who made this commitment possible including our United States congressional representatives, Florida’s Governor, the Office of Management and Budget, White House staff, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers both at Headquarters in Washington, D.C. and at the Jacksonville District.  We are deeply grateful for the support and advocacy of our many partners to achieve this goal.
