Mid-Town Beach Groin Construction Project Update

Palm Beach, Florida homepage

Beginning on Monday, April 2, 2018, South Ocean Boulevard between Chilean Avenue and Gulfstream Road will have modified traffic patterns due to the on-going construction associated with the Mid-Town Beach Groin Construction Project.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in both the north and south directions to allow construction equipment and haul trucks to be staged in the northbound travel lane and parking spaces. Please refer to the construction signage and drive with caution when traveling through the area.

A temporary construction access through the seawall along the sidewalk between Hammon Avenue and Gulfstream Road will be created by the contractor to facilitate construction. The access is not for public use and will be repaired upon completion of construction. Likewise, the beach in the construction area will be closed to the public. The public may continue to use the existing public access points at Chilean Avenue and Brazilian Avenue for access to the beach.

The Town’s contractor for this project is West Construction, Inc. The work will be ongoing through April and should be completed no later than mid-May.

For more information about the project, please contact Robert Weber, Coastal Program Manager at 561-838-5440.
