The Town of Palm Beach will be electronically holding our annual Hurricane Preparedness Seminar on May 13, at 9:30 a.m., via Zoom Webinar. Due to projections of an above average hurricane season, we are strongly encouraging residents, condo association managers, business owners, and contractors conducting business on the island to listen to the seminar by using the information below.

Meteorologist James Weiland of WPTV Channel 5 will headline the seminar with information about the 2021 Hurricane season forecast, the National Hurricane Center’s newest technology, and WPTV’s technology for severe weather forecasting and information. Town Emergency Management Officials will be sharing lessons learned from previous seasons and unveil plans for the upcoming season. Some of the material covered will include: 

Palm Beach Police - voluntary ID cards, evacuation procedures; town-wide security measures before, during and after a storm; welfare checks, and new post-storm re-entry procedures.

Palm Beach Fire Rescue - emergency response protocols, electrical hazards, gas leaks, and generator safety practices.  

Palm Beach Public Works - post storm recovery efforts including street clearing, debris removal, power restoration, and other recovery efforts that are required to get the town open for business after a hurricane.
