The Palm Beach Police Department wants to remind residents that the closing date for accepting applications for The Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation Citizen’s Academy is Friday, January 17. The six week program takes place once a week in the afternoons from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. A graduation ceremony and Alumni Reunion will immediately follow the class on Wednesday, March 18, at 5:00 p.m. at St. Edwards Parish Hall.
The Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation Citizen’s Academy provides an opportunity for individuals who live and work in the Town of Palm Beach to become familiar with the day-to-day operations, mission and vision of the Police & Fire-Rescue Departments. Since the instructors are all department staff members, you will have the opportunity to get to know the people who make up the Palm Beach Police & Fire-Rescue teams.
Weekly topics will include: Criminal Investigations, Patrol & Communications functions, Active Shooter Response, Firearms & Taser Training, Crime Scene & Evidence Collection, Patrol and Marine Ride-Alongs, Fire Extinguisher Training, CPR/AED Training, Vehicle Extrication, Trauma Hawk Helicopter and Training Tower & Ladder Truck demonstrations and much more.
1. Must be a resident or business owner in the Town of Palm Beach
2. Attend all six sessions of the Academy
3. Participation fee $200.00 payable to The Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation, Inc.
