[ARCHIVED] Special Ficus Hedge Collection & Disposal

Logo of the Town of Palm Beach-Homepage

The Town Council recently approved an incentive program to waive fees for the collection and disposal of Ficus hedges from private property, subject to conditions.  In order to qualify for the fee waiver, the owner must pre-schedule the pickup on a first-come first served basis, by calling the Public Works Department at 561-838-5440.  If new hedge material is being replanted, it must be Florida native.

This new service will commence on May 2, 2020 and the incentive program will run for prescheduled Saturday pick-ups during the first seven (7) Saturdays of May and June 2020.  Service will not be scheduled or provided on Memorial Day weekend (May 23, 2020).

Note that after the fee waiver incentive period is over, fees for this special collection work will be as adopted by the Town Council (Resolution No. 69-2019) at the August 14, 2019 meeting. The fee for the first 100 feet of hedge material is $700.00 and includes a 3-hour crew minimum.  Additional work as required would be done at a fee of $300.00 per hour. It should also be noted that this service only includes the collection and disposal of discarded Ficus debris placed on the appropriate place on the street. The removal of the Ficus hedge itself is the responsibility of the property owner.

Property owners are not required to use this new service, and still may choose to hire a landscape contractor or service provider to dispose of Ficus hedge material directly.
