The Palm Beach Police Department Community Shredding Event will be held on Tuesday, November 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the South Parking Lot of Phipps Ocean Park. Identity Theft is the fastest growing crime in the world today and that makes properly disposing of confidential documents even more important than ever. This event is being co-sponsored by ShredAssured – Confidential data destruction and Memory for Memory, Inc.
Memory for Memory is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit and will be offering their services at this community event free of charge. Memory for Memory is an electronics recycler that collects, refurbishes and recycles used electronics to help benefit the Alzheimer’s community. At this event, they will accept PCs, Laptops, Servers, Networking Hardware, LCD monitors, cell phones, office phones and all other forms of IT Hardware. Memory for Memory will have a hard drive crusher to use to destroy drives on-site should residents want to watch their drives be destroyed (hard drive must already be removed from computer). Since they are a nonprofit, they will provide a donation receipt form for the items donated. They erase and certify the data destruction of each item donated and the donation receipt form serves as certificate of erasure.
The mission of Memory for Memory is to increase the funding, education and awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. They donate all profits generated from the recycling and resale process to fund the continued research, support and cure of Alzheimer’s and related dementia.
