[ARCHIVED] Town Council to Appoint Members to the Planning and Zoning Commission

The Town of Palm Beach is seeking applicants to fill two (2) regular and one (1) alternate member positions on the Planning & Zoning Commission. One current regular and one alternate member whose first terms will soon expire are eligible to re-apply for a second term and one regular member who has served less than 50% of a term is eligible to re-apply for a first term. Current alternate members are eligible to apply for promotion to regular member status. In the event an alternate member is promoted, the newly vacated alternate position will be filled with one of the applicants seeking a position on the Commission. 

All citizens interested in pursuing appointment to the Planning & Zoning Commission must complete the appropriate application for service and submit the same to the Town Clerk in hard copy or via electronic transmission to townclerk@townofpalmbeach.com  by Friday, September 27, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. The appointments to the Planning & Zoning Commission will be on the agenda for consideration at the Town Council meeting on Thursday, October 10, 2019. 

The Planning & Zoning Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the Town Council in all matters relating to municipal planning and development. The Commission is required to follow the concepts and contents of the Town’s comprehensive land use plan in all planning, zoning and development related deliberations and decisions. The Commission shall also have such powers and duties as may be prescribed by Ordinance. Members of the Commission must be registered voters in the Town of Palm Beach and serve for terms of three (3) years. Three alternate members of the Planning & Zoning Commission may be appointed by the Town Council who serve when called upon by the Chair of the Commission in the absence of any regular member.
