Police Employee Awarded 2017 Supervisor of the Year

Cunningham.jpgThe Palm Beach Police Department is proud to announce that Lead Communications Supervisor Christine Cunningham was awarded the Supervisor of the Year by ASIS International at the 10th annual Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) Awards luncheon held at PGA National Resort & Spa on May 25th, 2017.

Lead Communications Supervisor Christine Cunningham has always maintained a high level of performance. Her dedication to the Town, the police department and her co-workers is exemplary. She has taken on many projects and has made measurable improvements to her Unit and the Department. She manages costs effectively, handles details personally, has advanced skills in the communications field, has established trust with co-workers and delegates appropriately.

One of her many successful accomplishments was recognizing that the Communications Unit equipment was becoming outdated and in need of an overhaul with updated technology.  As a result, L/C Supervisor Cunningham successfully planned and coordinated a complete renovation of the Department’s Communications Center, including implementing a Communications Back-Up Center at the E.O.C.  She is also responsible for the Town’s Direct Connect set-up and maintenance.

In 2016, one notable accomplishment was her response to Orlando regarding the high profile Pulse nightclub active shooting incident.  L/C Supervisor Cunningham is the team Administrator and a certified International Critical Incident Stress Foundation Instructor for the Palm Beach County Critical Incident Stress Management Team (PBCISM).  She responded with her team to Orlando to debrief members of the Orlando Police Department, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, FDLE and FBI who were directly involved with that active shooting incident.  This response by PBCISM received media attention.

L/C Supervisor Cunningham consistently shows that she has the ability to balance her job, her education and her many involvements.  With all that she does, her quality of service to the Police Department, Fire Department and Town has always remains high.

While being honored, L/C Supervisor Cunningham remained humble in her acceptance speech, dedicating the award to her father and retired Palm Beach Police Sergeant, Wayne Stevens.

Congratulations Mrs. Cunningham on the accomplishment and well deserved award!
